We’re happy to present the second installment of Irish legend Billy Scurry’s latest HipHop/Funk Mix. There isin’t much more we can say about this DJ or the name he’s made for himself in Ireland and further afield over the years. Below is what we wrote for the first podcast from Billy a few months back:
Over the past 20 years Billy Scurry has become synonymous with the club and DJ scene in Ireland. Cited by many as the pioneer who brought real dance music to Ireland in the early to mid 90s, Billy’s roots are as much in Soul, Funk and HipHop as they are in Techno, House and Disco.
Legendary residencies in The Temple of Sound, Sides, The Kitchen and The Ormonde during the 1990s along with international gigs worldwide have seen Billy constantly develop his soulful sound
This juxtaposition of styles quickly propelled him to being the DJ of choice for promoters around the country. Legendary residencies in The Temple of Sound, Sides, The Kitchen and The Ormonde during the 1990s along with international gigs worldwide have seen Billy constantly develop his soulful sound.
Billy has graced the turntables at various ChoiceCuts events over the years and always gets a great reception so we’re extrememly happy to be able to present the first part of a 3 volume live mix of Soul, Funk and HipHop exclusively compiled from his extensive record collection for ChoiceCuts.

Enjoy!
Fridays nights meant one thing back then, Valhalla @ Temple Of Sound with Johnny Moy, Billy Scurry and international guests. Great music, great people, great venue, great free fruit??!??

After the free fruit where else could the Dublin scene go other than into steep decline ;-)
