Rizm – Live at Sonar / Redbull Music Academy by ChoiceCuts
Check out some of Rizm’s guests and their mixes below to get an idea of the vibe we’re going for with this night. Good old vinyl, turntables (and a sprinkling of Serato too of course) and about 6 1/2 hours of solid dance floor music means you’ll be dancing early and leaving late. Excellent sound, even better cocktails and plenty of anthems, classics, the new and the old has been the receipe so far what is always a packed night.
Special guests in the past include:
Quantic
Will Holland a.k.a Quantic passed through to play at BestFootForward after we screened the B+ film about Quantic’s music making in Cali, Columbia and his then new LP which was released at the event also. Always a pleasure to DJ with, Will took over the night with just a case of 7s sourced from Columbia that he was eager to play out.

B+
If this man ever passes through Ireland we have him DJ. Not only because he is of course an Irishman but also an excellent DJ and one of the Mochilla crew who have produced countless amazing musical creations like Timeless, Keepintime, Brasilintime and is of course one of HipHop’s best loved photogs.
Monophonic
Monophonic aka Torsten Martens was the former label head and A & R man for Mole Listening Pearls for four years. We hooked up with Torsten via Soundcloud, a couple of mixes swapped here and there and a recipricol Dublin/Mannheim dj swap meant Torsten becoming a BFF regular. Torsten spends his time now with production and remixing and continues his DJ skills all around Europe and America while residing in Germany where he programmes music for some of the most popular clubs in the country. Check out his stupidly fresh remix of Q-Tip below (it’s downloadable at 320Kbps too!)

DJ Scope
DJ Scope is the man behind the music at ChoiceCuts. Promoter, DJ, Booker and (as you can see by Aidan Kelly‘s pic to the left) a pretty dedicated collector of vinyl. No stranger to any genre Scope is one of those DJs that can look after the night alone or alongside another DJ. At BestFootForward it usually plays out like this: Rizm sets them up, Scope knocks them down.

Colm K
Colm (aka the Freestlye Mellowship) is an accomplished producer as well as a first rate DJ. Having honed his skills in Co. Cork at the legendary Sir Henry’s in the backroom alongside Cork mainstay Stevie G in the mid 90s, Colm went on to establish himself as one of Ireland’s best Soul/R&B and HipHop DJs/Producers. Colm mixed our first 12″ release feturing Hypnotic Brass Ensemble and just recently wrapped up production work with Brian Deady for his LP ‘Interview’.

Fruitman
Fruitman is the DJ’s DJ. If you like Disco you’ll like Fruitman. We’re not talking watery late 70s saturday night fever disco. We’re talking the proper funk-imbibed, slapbass entrenched, woofer wobbling disco. When Fruitman’s not behind the 1s and 2s he’s busy looking after the ChoiceCuts website interviewing funk disco legends like Steve Arrington and exposing up and coming artists like B. Bravo to the world…

Handsome Paddy
Paddy has been making quite a name for himself around Dublin and Ireland over the last few years. One of the few DJs able to drop a track off Illmatic in between two speaker-destroying Dubstep tunes and get away with it Paddy has been a regular on the ChoiceCuts billing since 2004. Paddy’s also a regular contributor to the ChoiceCuts podcasts and has supported some of our bigger shows like Doom, Q-Tip, J.Rocc and Charlie 2na.
