Technology like music keeps movin right along, while at the same time the best vibes and solutions will stay relevant for a long time. Where music and technology meet has always been an exciting area and never more than right now. Doesn’t matter any more if you are a vinyl purist or a digital dj, technology has taken care of that for us. And it has all gotten better again recently.

Rane have recently launched their SL 3 hardware update for the Serato Scratch Live system. Providing 24-bit sound, more In & Out ports on the box and promising higher output, which they claim will keep them at the top of the heap.

Then there is the pretender to the crown, Native Instruments Traktor Scratch Pro. They have a media assault well under way to promote their new offering. Promising all the same features that Serato boasts, with a maturing technical platform (particularly addressing the stability issues of the past) and high profile endorsements coming out their ears the only question now is are they tough enough. Also, worth noting is that there is the Traktor Scratch Duo option if your pockets aren’t stuffed with cash at the moment.
